Outdoor TV Buying Guide

Choose the right outdoor television for sunlight, weather and installation conditions.

Full Sun, Partial Sun or Shade?

Outdoor televisions are designed for different lighting environments. Full-shade models are intended for protected locations with limited direct sunlight. Partial-sun TVs are designed for locations with some sunlight exposure, while full-sun-rated models are intended for brighter outdoor settings. Brightness and placement requirements vary by television.

Quick Tip: Check how much direct sunlight reaches your patio or deck throughout the day. Choose an outdoor TV specifically rated for that level of exposure.

Weather Resistance and Durability

Outdoor TVs are engineered for environmental conditions that ordinary indoor televisions are not designed to handle. Depending on the model, outdoor-rated features may include protection against moisture, dust, temperature changes and other outdoor conditions. Always compare the manufacturer's operating temperature range, enclosure rating and installation instructions.

Quick Tip: Michigan, Ohio and Indiana experience freezing winters and humid summers. Check the manufacturer's operating and storage temperature limits before leaving a TV outdoors year-round.

Outdoor TV Size and Installation

Consider the size of your patio, seating distance and available mounting space when selecting an outdoor television. Compare 43-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch and other available screen sizes. Use a mount rated for the TV and installation environment, and ensure power connections and cables are suitable for outdoor use.

Quick Tip: Measure your installation area and confirm that the wall, mount and electrical connections meet the television manufacturer's requirements and applicable codes.

Frequently Asked Questions About Outdoor TVs

Learn about outdoor TV durability, sunlight exposure, installation and Furrion Aurora.

What is an outdoor TV?

An outdoor TV is a television designed for use in specified outdoor environments. Depending on the model, it may include additional protection against moisture, dust, temperature changes and sunlight exposure. Outdoor TVs are commonly used on patios, decks and backyard entertainment areas.

What is a Furrion Aurora outdoor TV?

Furrion Aurora is a lineup of outdoor televisions designed for outdoor entertainment. Available models include 4K televisions with features intended for different outdoor viewing conditions. Compare each Furrion Aurora model's sunlight rating, screen size, picture features and operating temperature specifications.

What is the difference between partial-sun and full-sun outdoor TVs?

Partial-sun outdoor TVs are intended for locations with limited direct sunlight, while full-sun-rated models are designed for brighter outdoor environments. Full-sun models may offer higher brightness and additional features suited to direct sunlight exposure. Always follow the manufacturer's placement requirements.

Can I use a regular indoor TV outside?

Standard indoor televisions are generally not designed for outdoor exposure to moisture, temperature extremes and changing weather conditions. An outdoor-rated television is a better choice for a permanent patio or backyard installation when used within its specified environmental limits.

Can outdoor TVs stay outside during winter?

Some outdoor televisions are designed to tolerate cold temperatures, but the permitted operating and storage temperature ranges vary by model. Before leaving a TV outdoors during Michigan, Ohio or Indiana winters, review the manufacturer's specifications and installation recommendations.

Are outdoor TVs waterproof?

Outdoor TVs may offer varying levels of weather and water resistance, but they should not automatically be considered waterproof. Review the product's enclosure rating and manufacturer instructions to determine the types of exposure it can safely withstand.

Are outdoor TVs available in 4K resolution?

Yes. Many outdoor televisions, including select Furrion Aurora models, feature 4K Ultra HD resolution. A 4K TV has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, providing detailed picture quality with compatible content. Features vary by model.

What size outdoor TV should I buy?

The best outdoor TV size depends on your seating distance, patio dimensions and available mounting space. Popular options include 43-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch outdoor televisions, with other sizes available depending on the manufacturer and model.

Where can I buy Furrion outdoor TVs near me?

ABC Warehouse offers Furrion outdoor TVs online and serves shoppers throughout Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Compare available Furrion Aurora models and outdoor TV options, or find your nearest ABC Warehouse store to explore local shopping options.

What should I consider before installing an outdoor TV?

Before installing an outdoor TV, consider sunlight exposure, weather protection, mounting surface, viewing distance and access to outdoor-rated electrical connections. Select a compatible outdoor-rated mount and follow the manufacturer's installation requirements and applicable electrical codes.
